Dr Jing Su Gave an Invited Oral Presentation at Migration 2011

The 13th International Conference on the Chemistry and Migration Behavior of Actinides and Fission Products (MIGRATION 2011) was held September 18 -23, 2011 at Peking University in Beijing. Dr Jing Su gave an invited oral presentation on the computational study of coordination structures, stabilization energies, and luminescence properties of uranyl-glycine complexes in aqueous solution. Theoretical simulation of actinide luminescence spectra in this presentation drew strong interests from the participants. In addition to Su Jing’s presentation, Guo Chen of Li's group presented a poster, “Computational Studies of NMR Chemical Shifts of Uranyl-Ida/Oda Complexes”, which received a nomination for best poster.

Migration 2011 was hosted by Peking University and organized by the China Institute of Atomic Energy, and Committee on Nuclear Chemistry & Radiochemistry, the Chinese Nuclear Society, and the Committee on Radiation Protection and Chinese Nuclear Society.

The biannual MIGRATION conference was first held in 1987 in Munich, Germany. MIGRATION conferences have since been held in the USA, Spain, France, Japan, Austria and Korea. In 2011, China hosted the conference for the first time.

The main topics of the conference were experimental investigations and predictive modelling of chemical processes controlling the migration behavior of actinides and fission products in natural aquifer systems. More than 100 experts from around the world in the radionuclide migration research field attended. In total, there are 66 oral presentations and 169 poster presentations.
